the resin gallery
  the lust for rust
resin

a favorite medium of mine for nearly three decades. . . .

it’s as timeless as the source it comes from

time itself. . .

nothing encapsulates a 100 year old piece of rusty metal better. . . .

and for some reason capturing that moment moves me. . .

countless trips up and down route 66 to find a sort of entropic beauty in the many miles all things endure. . .

rust and relic preserved for another 100 years. . . .

for another generation to gather their own curiosity. . . . as i do.

rust

few things remind us of our impermanence as much as solid steel breaking down under natures laws. . .

none of our human composition is as strong as the element yet our living cells allow us to sustain life beyond that of raw iron exposed to nature. . . .

as fascinating as that may seem. . . .

rust actually looks cool too when put to use as a decorative element or surface. . .

spending many summers on farms in Missouri

and Tennessee I was surrounded by old

rust which I began collecting at a young age. . .

I guess you could call it a lust for rust. . . .

relic

relic comes from the latin word reliquiae meaning remains or something left behind. . . .

for me its the idea of. . . if these walls could talk. . . .what a story they could tell. . . .

since I was quite young I recall an overwhelming

feeling whenever I entered an old space. . . .

the smell or look of the aged essence within a room was more than just one of nostalgia but one of daunting beauty. . .

on a cloudy day in southern Missouri I found an old rusty skeleton key in an abandoned  farmhouse. . .

I still have that key. . . I was only twelve then. . .

There are literally hundreds of original artworks to share but to see them in person is the only way to capture the true essence of what is being created.
